Privacy Policy
Palimpsest is designed as a local-first reading app. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is protected.
Information handled by the app
Palimpsest lets you import, save, read, highlight, and revisit user-selected reading material. Reading text, saved publications, highlights, reading progress, adaptive reading state, and recall results are stored on your device by default.
Information we do not collect
Palimpsest does not currently operate an account system. We do not collect your name, email address, reading text, article titles, highlights, knowledge profile, or detailed reading history on a Palimpsest server.
Imported content and external websites
When you choose to import a URL, the app may contact the source website you selected so it can retrieve content for reading. Those websites are controlled by their own operators and may process your request under their own privacy policies.
Purchases and subscriptions
Palimpsest Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles payment information and subscription account management. Palimpsest receives purchase status from StoreKit so the app can unlock subscription features.
Diagnostics and analytics
Palimpsest may use Apple-provided diagnostics and crash information that users choose to share with developers through Apple settings. Any future optional analytics will be designed to avoid reading content and personal reading details, and will be documented before public release.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. Because current reading data is local-first, Palimpsest does not share your reading content, highlights, or detailed reading history with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
Data retention and deletion
Local reading data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the app from your device. App Store subscription records are managed by Apple.
Children's privacy
Palimpsest is not directed to children under 13 or the equivalent minimum age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Palimpsest changes. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
